Ann & Steve WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY TOON

About Ann & Steve

Steve & Ann Toon

We’re a UK-based, husband and wife team of award-winning professional wildlife photographers with a passion for Africa’s wildlife and wild places. We’ve been photographing there for the last two decades, after giving up our previous jobs as journalists and editors following a six-month sabbatical in the bush. Africa has been life-changing for us: our very first visit to its game reserves inspired us to change tack completely and begin this exciting photographic journey. We’ve never looked back.

We’ve got to know parts of Africa pretty well in that time, although it still remains an infinitely compelling and fascinating place. Which is good news, as we now spend six months a year in the bush, leading specialist photographic safaris to some of the continent’s top wildlife destinations and pursuing our own photographic projects. Africa is our first love and second home.

Our work is represented by a number of leading photographic agencies and our images are sold throughout the world. We also contribute to a wide range of editorial clients, have had three books published, and have lectured on wildlife photography at degree level. When we’re not in the bush you can find us in a remote corner of North-east England, where we live in Northumberland National Park.

Join us on safari

We love sharing our passion for Africa with others. Our photo safaris have been designed to offer photographers real ‘added value’, whether it’s custom-built photo boats, cutting edge hides, nocturnal big game photography, low level elephant hides, outstanding leopard photography, or aerial photography by helicopter.

Whether you’re an experienced photographer or just starting out, we’re on hand throughout to guide your experience and help you get the most from your photography and your whole trip.

Last minute safari space

Our 2023 African photo safaris are largely sold out, but we do have one space left on our Mashatu trip in November. If you love leopards, this is unmissable. For details visit our safari website.

Remembering leopards

Staying on the theme of leopards, they are the subject of the latest in the Remembering Wildlife series of coffee table books to be published later this year.  We’re delighted to once again have an image selected for inclusion. The series has already raised over £1 million for conservation projects. You can pre-order the book on the Remembering Wildlife website.
